delve into the rich tradition of classical taoist texts

About the Presentation

Taoism has much to teach us today. What is the Tao? And what is Taoism? Both questions will be addressed, along with some fascinating central concepts associated with this tradition and a number of rich, inspiring quotes from classical Taoist texts which we will reflect upon together using a meditative approach.

About the Presenter

Linda Oliveira was born in Melbourne, Australia, and is a second generation Theosophist.  In 1971 she joined the Theosophical Society after hearing talks by the philosopher J. Krishnamurti, which had a profound effect on her future life.  She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the Australian National University, majoring in psychology and political science.  During 1981 she was a student for several terms at the Krotona School of Theosophy, California, USA, and also worked for a time that year at the National Headquarters of the Theosophical Society in America.

She was first appointed in 1996 as an Additional Member of the General Council of the Theosophical Society. She held the office of National President of The Theosophical Society in Australia from 2002 until January 2009, and has occupied that office again from January 2012 until the present. She is the Editor of Theosophy in Australia. Elected as International Vice-President of the Theosophical Society from October 2008, she resided at the International Headquarters of the Society in Adyar, India until September 2011, prior to returning to Australia.

Linda has lectured for the TS in various countries and has had articles and interviews published in a number of TS magazines. Linda holds a strong conviction that a genuine exploration and understanding of the Perennial Wisdom teachings known today as Theosophy can provide an opportunity for human spiritual transformation, which is badly needed in today’s materialistic world.
